This movie came out during the time of ‘gritty live action’ source material and instead decided that it wanted to be a live-action anime/cartoon.

If you watch it and expect it to be like a cartoon, it’s a perfect film. If you want something ‘deeper’ than that, you’re not going to enjoy it.
