There’s probably a better community for asking this, but I haven’t been able to find that one either.

What I’m looking for is a place to discuss ideas that encourages good-faith conversation, staying on topic, and being decent to one another - while actively discouraging mean-spirited, facetious, or bad-faith responses that focus on criticizing the person asking the question rather than engaging with the substance of it. And by “discouraging,” I mean active moderation with very low tolerance for that kind of commentary.

My suggestion is not to engage in conversation when they are “in the weeds” and talking to the music in their head. What they are describing really has nothing to do with the concern you’re bringing up

This is exactly why we need a moderated community that keeps these kinds of people out - those simply incapable of having a productive or on-topic dialogue. Most of these people can’t go half of a sentence before talking to the music box in their subconscious. I’m not seeing any kind of good faith dialogue where one logical concept flows into the next.

This person has constructed a straw man where your underlying point apparently is invalid because you haven’t come up with a specific topic suggestion.

And then they’ve gone off to invoke specters and boogeymen about pedophilia and stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with this!!!

Like these people are just assholes. There, I said it.
