Are you alright? You can definitely say they’re African (or anything more precise like “West African” or “from the Horn of Africa”) by ethnicity, they’re just American by nationality. What else would you say? The white folks in America are European by ethnicity (mostly Germanic) and American by nationality, and their nationality didn’t just randomly turn them Native American, lol.
