You bring up another point, the whole need to point out someone’s university education. Just as elitist implying that people who aren’t college educated are idiots. It’s champagne liberalism, trying to be a leftist while looking down your nose at people who couldn’t afford or get to have a university education.

I don’t care about her education. You don’t need that to be a good person or leader. I just drew the comparison because it’s clear and obvious.

I’m sure fugate is very unqualified, but it has nothing to do with his past work as a gardener. Stop being so stuck up

This is why the American left is drowning, after catching fire. The rest of us around the world are all watching it in disbelief. Just like the American right, you guys just really gave in to divisiveness and hate and looking down on others. Can’t say im not enjoying watching you all drown

so you’re fine if your doctor practices medicine without any degree?

you find it acceptable if a surgeon performed open heart surgery on a family member without any experience in human anatomy?

in your perspective it’s preferred to have an EMT have the training and life experience of a taxi driver?

Not the user you replied to, but:

        For cabinet positions, no, I wouldn’t want a non-expert.

But, for congress, other than legal requirements the only real “qualification” in my opinion is the ability to read.

Congress is supposed to be average people that represents the interests of the people. Its totally fine for someone with a highschool degree / GED to be a representative, as long as they can understand the legislations they vote on. They are supposed to have staff that helps them with understanding the bills to be voted on.

Even for the president, its still just being a representative of the people, they should know how to choose qualified people for cabinet, and defer to expert opinion.

        TLDR:

Congressmembers represent their district/state. President represents the country
(Or at lesst that’s what they were supposed to be doing)

They don’t have to be the experts themselves.

Cabinet on the other need to be experts in their field.
Similar with the Judicial branch, they need to be experts on the law.

The fact IS that a person in the cabinet SHOULD have actual expertise on the subject. Congress IS for the people so anyone should be able to represent the people.

How do you think is ok that someone with NO combat/military experience leads the fucking U.S Terror prevention, it has nothing to do with him being a gardener, he could be a doctor and my opinion would be the same, he isn’t qualified for the job, simple as that.

How difficult is it to ask for a person assigned to the cabinet to be qualified to take decisions on the matter?

Not sure why this isn’t clear to you, but being a gardener is brought up because it’s almost the only job experience he has, and it is obviously not related to counter terrorism. It is not mentioned with the intent of criticizing gardeners.
