People keep trying to attribute maliciousness to stupidity as well. Mostly because it’s easier to dismiss stupidity than argue against it.
He’s shortsighted, narcissistic, and petty. But he doesn’t do things just to prove how much of a big idiot he is. Dismissing everything he does as “idiocy” just gives him more leash to piss on everyone from.
I wouldn’t say those two things are mutually exclusive, Trump is dumber than shit and also a raging malicious bastard. The Nazis were both malicious as hell and stupid as fuck.
I would say the opposite. At least for the basis of this train of thought. That maliciousness makes one single-minded in their ideals and goals, which inevitably devolves into “Get mine, fuck them”. Which is inherently destructive, both for the person in question and those around them.
But why? Just calling things dumb, or stupid, or idiotic without any explanation is just a grade school way of saying “I don’t like a thing”. Without seeking a way to understand, and thus overcome it, it’s always just going to be “I’m smart and they’re dumb”, which is often the argument of those you’d criticize of “inherent stupidity”.
