My understanding of the situation is they have funded the equivalent of “conversion camps” for autism, stuff like try to force autistic people to be neurotical. But for some reason the main issue everyone harps on is they are actively looking for a “cure”. As someone with mild autism i desperately want a cure. I’m sick of being unable to pick up on social signals obvious to everyone else.
I understand that some people feel that way, however I think it’s also understandable that some people (including myself) don’t see it that way and think of it more like having blurry vision. If I could get the autism equivalent of lasik I would in a heartbeat, it is so exhausting being autistic.

Autism is bolted into my personality; it’s part of who I am as a person. I take great offense at the notion that I should be cured of being me.
