Absolute instant classic, this generations Iron Giant.
Love how they didn’t fear away from themes of death on screen. Made all the scenes that much more powerful in ways you usually don’t see in kids movies nowadays.
Curious if they’ll follow the books and try making a 2 & 3 and they can stay on par with this.
Just saw this last night with my family. I almost cried so many times and my wife was actively wiping years away.
It’s such a beautiful feeling movie for the whole family.
I’m looking forward to it with the family. I really enjoyed the audiobooks one week. Checked it out as a casual read after a heavy book but it’s was, like you mention, heartfelt and sweet.

Finding Nemo? Coco?
I have no idea whether it’s a valid point or not, but Finding Nemo was 21 years ago. Not sure that counts as “nowadays”.
Onwards is from 2020 and is all about death. Coco is from 2017, I should really get around to seeing it.

I think you have it confused with 101 dalmatians.
And Soul, and big hero 6. Honestly Pixar had a stretch there where it seemed like they couldn’t not make a movie about death.
I like reading the book to my kid, but will have to see the movie cause the story was very child oriented and not much like iron giant. Have you seen “Robot Dreams”? That one is a great animated film!
