Believing that Trump wanted to impose tariffs with no expectation of retaliation and then being blindsided by the counter tariffs so he backed down is just naive. The plan was always to “negotiate”.
Mostly I agree, but I think him saying he is pleased is for his cult. They don’t look deeper into the things he says and if he says he did well for America, they will eat that shit up.

People believing he imposed these tariffs thinking that there would be no retaliation are also being lied to in the exact same way.
