    Needle exchanges and safe injection sites help a lot. Decriminalization if not full legalization like in Portugal would help even more.

      Yeah. Punishing people for being addicted is like throwing rocks at someone who’s drowning to try to knock them closer to land.

        Yeah, or put in another way: treating this health issue like a criminal one scares people away from seeking the help they need.

        It also exacerbates the socioeconomic issues that put people at greater risk of developing the disease that is addiction in the first place.
