Summary

Canada’s Liberals, once expected to face a major election defeat, have seen a resurgence after Donald Trump suggested the U.S. might annex Canada.

His comments sparked a wave of patriotism, benefiting the Liberals while complicating Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre’s campaign.

Polls show the Liberals closing the gap, especially if Mark Carney leads the party.

With Trudeau stepping down and the carbon tax debate fading, the election may now center on who can best handle Trump.
