That said, a non-participant is objectively less culpable for electing Trump than someone that voted for Trump.

If you want people to vote for the “leftwing” party in droves, turn it an actual leftwing party with a platform of remaking our economy to reward labor over speculative investment, and making wealth hoarding to the point of being able to buy your own government and Regulators a thing of the past through taxation and even confiscation over certain levels to be put into the commons like education, clean public transport, Healthcare, etc.

Hell, I’ll knock on every door in my state if the Democrats abandoned their neoliberalism and became the party of FDR again with a New New deal. But they won’t do that, because they’d rather have fascism than stop taking the corporate bribe money that Reagan made them junkies for.

That could change if today’s neoliberals were supplanted by anti-corporatists messaging that it isn’t government’s job to get out of the market’s way, but to regulate and straightjacket the market economy into serving society as the lowly tool of society that an economy ought to be.

The people demanding there be winners and losers in an embarrassingly wealthy society ought to go live in the forest with nothing but a knife to see if they win or lose. A society supports one another.

I have voted blue in every election since Obama McCain, despite not liking a single one of the General election candidates, and I phone banked and primaried for Bernie twice.

I don’t blame those who sat out. The only reason I don’t is to maximize harm reduction so I can look myself in the mirror. I blame those that voted for Trump for Trump.

We have a center right party and a fascist party, both hypercapitalist. You can scream at democratic socialists like me and other leftists, but in my entire lifetime, we have never had a party platform to enthusiastically vote for, only against the worst of 2 terrible options that embrace economic inequity and are well bribed to do so.

And singling them out as the worst offenders for doing nothing on election day while people voted FOR the fascist has just ensured keeping those that decided to disengage stay disengaged, because the neoliberals that run the Democrat party seem to hate leftists even more than Republicans, and say the same thing every cycle to them.

Because at least Republicans believe in our herp derp “free” market capitalist economy, amirite? I wish that commonality our supposed leftwing party has had with Republicans for ages, but especially since Reagan, would tell you something…

Because a society shouldn’t be comfortable with an economy that by design leaves so many of its people “losing” so hard they’re dying of exposure on our streets, let alone BOTH of our only 2 political parties that matter. I voted for Obama, Clinton(at an empty polling place BTW), Biden, and will for Harris, all with no snap in my step and a funeral dirge in my heart, just so I can say I used what little power I have for harm reduction.

I’d rather not have fascist scapegoating along with our antisocial, rigged crony market capitalist economy we don’t get a vote on sucking us dry as we struggle to subsist. We only get a vote on how to address the social issue symptoms of that economy, if at all, and who to blame, and sadly it’s never the private shareholder class that should be.

Let’s be clear , we’re circling the drain. Inequality will continue to increase as greed induced climate change increases scarcity for the non wealthy masses, D or R, but at least with D, we won’t arbitrarily point the finger at brown people and hit them with sticks. That’s is the extent of our vote, whether to starve us or starve us while beating us.

We need a new constitution, one that punishes greed, with life imprisonment when applied to politics, and rewards prosocial activity. This country died under Reagan as anything more than a money printer for the tiny class of people that don’t see you or as human, just resources to extract MOAR value from.

But since that won’t happen, I’ll do the right thing without hope in the face of Armageddon, harm reduction. A vote to leave the water pumps running on this sinking ship, nothing more.

Let’s be honest, our “free market” is a regular casino for the plebs that own about 10% of shares in their 401ks and Robinhood accounts, and an intentionally rigged casino for the oligarchs that own the rest, with marked insider information cards, and loaded market manipulation dice.
