For a better lemmy experience, remember to block lemmy.ml , lemmygrad, and hexbear.net . On mbin, use URL spec /d/<domain_name> and block. Or since that doesn’t seem to work, just block their communities whenever they pop-up.

Moved on to the better fediverse platform, mbin, avoid lemmy instances: https://github.com/jointhefediverse-net/jointhefediverse.net/blob/main/README.md (scroll to bottom)

  • Not really. Seeing the same assholes succeeding at playing the best psychopaths in games like Eve Online, moderating the discussion outside of the game to maximize their success in places like the eve subreddit, but also moderating the conservative subreddit in reddit makes all the sense to me. It might seem insane to associate how they act in a game to how they act in real life, but that is all life is to them, a game to exploit. People are throwing the same sort of gaslighting memes in conservative networks than they throw in meaningless made-up factions.

Not all the players are like that, but you can bet it attracts and trains the psychopaths that become the most successful at it inside and out. If you have an image host that allows anything to be uploaded and makes a point of not censuring, it’s going to get bad, real bad, and this is very similar to it. But it also gives people the opportunity to see how these sort of people see the world in a controlled environment - if you can weather it and not get charmed by the rhetoric yourself, you’ll see that if they can make this shit up on meaningless divisions, they can certainly do it with charged politics.

  • You probably crossed an admin and didn’t even realize it. Reddit is really utterly shit behind the curtains, they just happen to put on a good face that has generally fooled politicians and influencers alike. Most people care about what’s behind the curtains like they do with politics, not much at all, so they keep getting away with it specially due to the heavy control they have on the narrative. You know societies will begin to give a shit about social networks and what that is doing to our real societies when you actually have a recourse against their Black Mirror Nosedives.
