I’m AuDHD - officially diagnosed ADHD and self-diagnosed (for now) with ASD. I also suffer from a great deal of Imposter Syndrome.
And bad actors will use that feeling (for those that have it) against them, and to call out reporting like this as a conspiracy (that will of course ironically be broadcast through the Rights media network by the very people that have been spreading the real conspiracies from the start).
Maybe a long shot, but as someone with ADHD and self diagnosed autism, I would encourage you to look into the possibility. I struggled in school all the way through, constantly told “if only you applied yourself”, the problem was I was already working harder and didn’t realize the system wasn’t designed for my brain. Really the world in general isn’t designed for anyone neurodivergent, but your life still has value, you just need help figuring out how the whole unexplained thing works.
I think a great deal of the issue on the “left” is that being such a large coalition, with takes all over the place on many topics, is that we have a very hard time getting everyone to fall lockstep behind many things.
The right has no real platform, and thus can just use their wide propaganda network to just spread their new deflection of the day 24/7, and everyone in that network of lies does their part without question.
I watched a good video last night talking about how we need to build a network like the right has to spread the lefts talking points, our victories, and our goals. Because the current media landscape constantly bends themselves in knots to not offend the right instead of calling out their lies and bullshit for what it is. We need to stop giving the disinformation a platform outside of the Rights network.
Yep, AI has been shown to create sources (books/websites/etc.) names out of just pieces of the question asked and do it with the confidence that it’s real.
Not sure JD would get any additional terms, the cult might want to install either Jr. or Eric and start a “royalty” line of succession. And hope that Ivanka enjoys the hellscape she helped usher in for her daughter, and women everywhere.
But blaming the party and sitting out, or voting 3rd party, everyone knew would lead to Trump winning, just like it did. Not voting for Harris was a vote for Trump, and makes those people just as complicity in his being elected as the people that voted for him. Trying to rationalize it as “Dems need to run a better candidate/campaign/etc” is just cover for not wanting to take responsibility for allowing the man everyone left of the GOP knew was a bad idea, back into power (and with numbers that are going to feed his ego into fascist wet dreams).
Moral of my rant is this - criticism of the party is fine and should be allowed/encouraged, but trying to blame the party for millions of people handing Trump the presidency is a bad faith argument and should be called out as such each and every time. We are all adults, everyone knew the consequences, and we all made a choice. And people need to start owning that instead of blaming the DNC for not being their unicorn party able to 100% represent a **WAY ** more diverse set of ideals than Trumps singular ideology of hate/fear.

It must be sad to see your company value evaporate at the hands of the equivalent of liar-Russian-roulette, where the AI will return an answer to most anything. And it will return that answer with complete confidence, giving no indication if the result is real or completely fabricated.
We need to do what Harris had stated, and go after all these companies price gouging like we are still in the middle of the COVID pandemic. And that is now only going to get worse with a con man in office set on making himself, his companies, and his friends (which is anyone that says nice things to him) as rich as possible by extracting what remains of the working class. They are going to weaken/dismantle unions, and likely start mass death/slave labor camps for the poor.
He is also going to use his new position of power to pass laws to shield crypto scammers, and use his new crypto platform to undermine the US dollar and try and force more people to his crypto grift run by some of the worse humans around. And use his NFT/crypto stuff to openly except bribes to sell off the US to the highest bidder so when his dementia gets bad enough they put JD in charge he can live out the rest of his days being fed liquid cheese burgers on a golden spoon.
You are never going to have a perfect candidate on every issue to represent everyone left of fascism in the US. And this line of “run a better candidate” just means you never actually cared in the first place. Enjoy the fascism from your high horse.
Just gutted by the amount of people that would rather watch the world burn than have to vote for someone that didn’t match their 1 issue 100%, and knowing the alternative was 100% worse on all options.
Trump is going to have/help Israel just erase Gaza and the Palestinians as a people, there will be no need for any “solution”. And this is apparently what all these people sitting out wanted in the end. Hope they enjoy the view from their high horse.
Kinda sad to see Katie Porter at #1 with over $10m while the next closest candidate is just under $3m.
Edit - Having only known her for the charts she makes to school Republicans I had no idea she earned her law degree under Professor Warren (when she was teaching at Harvard), and was later given the position of monitor for a nationwide bank mortgage settlement by Harris when she was AG of CA. Small world.
But Trump is still 100% about himself, so the second Musk is unable to do what Trump wants from him he’ll turn on him too. And Pence got his religious following (and the beginning of his cult - help put him between God and his base), and Guialani was in charge of lies/propaganda (to feed the cult). They both served their purpose for Trump until he no longer needed them.

Has someone posted an argument, or do you in the future see yourself seeing an argument with someone on here taking the side of “alternative facts” and letting that change your mind? If not then it’s just someone likely downvoted to the bottom that people will ignore anyways, not worth the time to post it. I think something like Facebook works for these types of things better, as the population is generally older and more likely to see and reshare just any nonsense true or not.
Because I personally don’t see the fediverse as a great medium for trying to bring people into the cult, and the ability to bring people out of the cult is even less likely online, fediverse or not.
The original Facebook was just “hot or not” for a college campus, and required invites.
I used to do this as a kid, and would add cheese to make it a “sandwich”.
For commercial services like Twitter or Reddit the bots make sense because it lets the platforms have inflated “user” numbers while also more random nonsense to sell ads against.
But for the fediverse, the goals would be, post random stuff into the void and profit?? Like I guess you could long game some users into a product that they only research on the fediverse, but seems more cost effective for the botnets to attack the commercial networks first.

So basically academics finding people to fund a large scale lab experiment, they want to get working by 2030. It sounds like they sold Google on an idea (for funding) and now have to move their idea from the lab to the real world. It does sound safer than water cooled plants of old at least.

I have been Lemmy only since the 3rd party app thing also. I also stopped using Twitter when Musk bought it, and have Mastadon on my to-do list but I’m not sure if I want to spin up my own instance or make an account elsewhere. Other than that I have no other social media accounts and never have.
As for other Fediverse platforms, I’m strongly opposed to the for profit ones, but happy to see all the open source ones.
