I had this problem with a fucking bank once. Even better are the sites that silently chop off characters after the internal limit, on the backend, but don’t tell you or limit the characters on the frontend. I had a really fun time with that last scenario once, resetting my password over and over and having it never work until I decided to just try a shorter password.

I agree. The impact can be real, and that’s the case for my coding job too, maybe to a lesser extent than yours. A lot of days I think I have my dream job. But still, digital data isn’t like a Roman ruin or something. It will be gone in 1000 years. Just wild to think about, and sometimes I feel like that fact matters.

You’re almost entirely correct. Slight caveats – on step two, HBO Now had a slightly different catalog than Go due to said agreements. Then on step three they also added a bunch of non-HBO stuff too. You probably know this stuff I’m just spelling it out for anyone who might not.
I think the issue is that the CEO in charge changed. HBO is owned by conglomerates and has changed hands a couple times now.
