i had this cuban moreno friend who was overly proud of his spanish heritage and would make fun of my chicano spanish sometimes. each time he did it in public, i would shut him up by asking someone in the group which one of us was latino which one was american; my garden variety mexican looks always got picked as latino and his afrocubano ass got picked as american. it was especially delicious if the person i asked knew that he could speak spanish.

i thoroughly enjoyed using american racism to put him in his place and it’s probably the only time in my life where that racism worked to my advantage. lol

the same thing i did when even biden, et al. voted against gay marriage; gays in the military; supported gay ban in the federal gov’t and stayed silent on a slew of anti-immigrant & anti-abortion state laws.

you don’t have to, reddit refugee’s have been lobbying the entire lemmyverse to institute site-wide lemmy instance bans that will end up making this happen whether you want it or not; guaranteeing that lemmy sites will turn into echo chamber mini reddits but with far fewer users and very little content

i didn’t even start dating until i was 27 and my career at 26 while my first website was at 16 years old and i never truly left the country; you’re either very impressive or lucky af! i envy you! ;)

i’ve learned the hard way that the aftermarket makers have learned that planned obsolescence makes them more $$$ and going for similarly aged infotainment systems work longer than many of the new stuff

add to that list better gas mileage than most new cars of the same type and i feel the same way bout my '08 ranger. i’ve had to upgrade the infotainment system 3x already because of the planned obsolescence built into them.

and here i was thinking that i was ahead of the curb with my 16 year old car because it gets better gas mileage than most new cars of the same type.

i like the police warnings and the apps that automatically look for a better route in real time when there’s traffic; which means i’ll be keeping my already 16 year old car until i die or parts run out, i guess

useless infotainment screens that can’t do anything but playing mp3 off a USB stick
