This was already common practice to promote other shows during broadcasts way back when I last watched broadcast TV over a decade and a half ago.

I just flipped through the introduction of a GIMP book that the authors hoped 3.0 would be out so they could cover it but ultimately based the book on 2.6 due to delays. It’s copyright 2012, apparently something (didn’t) happen.

On my RTX 3080 laptop I get a significantly lower frame rate on my laptop screen (240hz) and 4k external monitor (144hz) when using Wayland. Wayland has come a long way but I’m still going to be using X11 for at least the near future.
