Religion is mostly to blame, but I think some of those religious teachings have been integrated into institutions and secular society as well. Notions that self gratification is a treat and not a need, the perception of masturbation that it’s some teenage boy temporary phase and not for women or older married men. The idea that it can’t be a social activity at all, even though it’s free and safer than drugs.
It feels like these protests are going to shape how the governments of the world will respond to mass unrest in the future.
Or in other words - those in charge want the common person to be disempowered, to frame a peaceful protest as an act of terrorism so they can be more aggressive in future.
Hopefully no one on either side does anything stupid.
I’m self employed and have been reducing my hours worked per day cause I found I was more effective with a good rest and without forcing myself to work those extra 1-2 hours each day. Crazy hey.

I really hate this venture capitalist led tech startup culture. I would like to see an engineer and expertise led tech startup culture. It’s infuriating to see people putting the cart before the horse for “smrt ekonomikz” meanwhile genuine good ideas go by the wayside, unfunded.
Imagine if some of this money just went into the open source community. Whose work powers most of the modern world.

At recent protests the farmers are even mentioning Putin by name, giving further credence to such theories.

This is extremely upsetting but not surprising. Poland has some of the weirdest retrograde macho right wing culture in the world. It makes sense that many of them would sympathise with Putin.

We’re a home studio that makes websites, software and digital media. I’ve thought about temporarily accepting a job but I fear that would just compromise my mental health to the point where I can’t work at all.
In Australia we IT people get paid about half what our USA colleagues make, our expertise is treated with revulsion, even though it’s critical, and people act like our neurodivergent/introvert personality types are a hindrance to a successful and productive work environment.
I love what I do, but I’d sooner stack supermarket shelves than go back to being some corrupt conservative dickheads golden ticket, again.

I think it’s the conservative movements final stand to be selfish, retrograde minded and cruel. The majority of people now believe in empathy and doing the right thing but those who don’t have doubled down on their ways.
