The funny thing is that as a woman I"m in the same situation but without the nails/lips/hair/eyelashes etc I spend all my money in crochet yarn and filament/resin for 3d print… besides the ocasional new hobby
As I got broke I learned to do those things at home.
Well I don’t do it because I don’t really care. I work from home and when I need to go out I use sticker nails. They work wonders for up do 5 days if they are short enough and 1 pack lasts 3 different events. It works for me but it’s not for everyone
I have fun with my nails, I don’t see them as expected/socially required maintenance. In my field it’s actually seen as less professional to have long nails, especially in noticable polish. I get excited when I get to work from home for a week because that means I can go crazy with nails and makeup.
