The person of interest […] is in anti-capitalist Ivy League grad […]

Mangione also subscribed to anti-capitalist and climate-change causes […]

High school tuition at the all-boys school is nearly $40,000 a year.

I don’t understand how this guy planned the assassination, the escape from NYC and then 3days later he sitll has all the evidence linking him to the crime on his person, and he is still on a Greyhound bus instead of chilling at home, or camping in the woods or something, anything else.

He also apparently gave cops the same fake ID he used at the hostel, despite having four fake IDs. My only guess is the initial escape was to keep the story alive for a week, then he either expected to be caught eventually or intentionally allowed himself to be caught so he could revitalize it and possibly start making public statements.

A better way to do that would be to take some pictures with his phone of the dead CEO before taking off on his bike, and then posting them as verification photos on a 4chan thread or something. But yea this is all just speculation. It’s just odd.

        Yeah couple of options here:

        • he’s the guy but is irrational, mentally whatever and not the calculated genius the online hype has built him up to be
        • he’s the guy and intentionally got himself caught / planned to give himself up for a variety of possible reasons (acting as a public figure, mental instability, guilt, sense of righteousness/justice idk)
        • he’s not the guy and the information on the gun and ID is false or misrepresented
        • he’s not the guy but a whole slew of planted evidence, fake/exaggerated reporting etc make him out to be the guy, which imo seems like the most conspiracy-nutty take. not saying it’s not possible but it seems the least likely.

Maybe he is betting on the broken justice system and the jury to find him „not guilty“.

Well first of all you’re assuming this is him. It could be. Could also be that the cops just found someone who’s online profile seems plausible and are going to pin it on him.

If it’s not him it seems it would be trivial to prove that, but if any of the information provided to us by law enforcement is true (yea I know big if, but why would a random cop in pennsylvania lie about finding the suspect?) then it’s certainly him.

That’s a good question. I could see that there might be a lot of downward pressure to find this guy and make an example of him. Maybe they were just happy to find a patsy to take some of the pressure off.

I don’t think he really cared about getting caught all that much, just enough to do it and get away from the scene.

Agreed, but he could have gotten away with it! His trail was cold, the police had nothing. He could have ditched all the evidence and just gone home, sigh.

Instead of one manifesto, have dozens or hundreds even. Start passing those out to make your motives clear and prevent the media from burying it.

It is profoundly disturbing how much social media information the media just… dumped out there. This could even be the wrong dude!

I would scour my presence from the internet if I thought it even mattered. I’m sure there are mirrors of everything I’ve ever posted or liked going all the way back to the early 2000s. Even if I deleted absolutely everything (that I could find) and 100% degoogled it probably wouldn’t matter at all.

This is a very depressing article.

Femme fatale! I wonder how this would have played out if it weren’t for that girl at the hostel flirting with him, wanting to see the man behind the mask.
